The Karma Enduro has all the hallmarks of a worthwhile and powerful event. Its participants are committed to raising £150,000 a year to help fund the building of a hospital for some of the most vulnerable people in the Palani Hill range of southern India, and to providing an outreach service to take medical care and some teachers out to the villages on a regular basis. Funds raised will also go to the Rainbow Trust.
These people are desperately in need of our help. They, and especially the children of southern India - are amongst the friendliest, most humble, caring and happy human beings anywhere on earth, but in many deprived areas their life opportunities are non-existent. Many of them, though happy, smiling, polite and respectful people, have no parents, no education, and are in poor health. Most devastating of all – they have no clear plan for their future. All the things we hold dear and take for granted are denied them due to the location of their birth.
The best way for you to help is to sponsor Sue and Stuart to complete this crazy but amazing journey. To take part in the Karma Enduro they have to raise at least (GBP) 8,000 in instalments, with the first donations due by the end of November. Failure to do so results in their disqualification from the rally or personal penury - and they can only achieve this with the support of all their friends and colleagues. If they exceed this target, of course, the charities will benefit more. Their approach to raising the funds is to ask for a little from many people dotted all over the globe (sharing the love) and also to seek corporate sponsorship. So if there are companies or organisations out there looking to make a real difference to two truly excellent charities and the lovely people they support, and who want to make a genuinely socially responsible commitment (and possibly gain some media coverage, as Sue aims to write about this adventure) please do get in touch. The wonderful quirky cars can be positively plastered with logos and decals, they’re told and they’d be proud to display as many as possible. This pair will be living in T-shirts so you can always brand the drivers as well as their car!
